I feel guilty for neglecting the blog so much, so I just thought I’d post a quick update! I have been working on a couple patterns, the Pride and Prejudice-inspired spencer above being one of them. (And I am happy to say it is nearly finished!)
I realize the whole Jane Austen fangirl thing is becoming a little played out–or, at least this is the impression I’ve gotten from the comments of a couple crafters–but I myself have only recently discovered the magic of Colin Firth in a cravat. And I love the classic simplicity of the Regency style! I don’t feel that it could ever get old.
I have also nearly finished a pattern for a nook cover, which I may offer for sale over in the SP Knittery…more to come on that later.
And this? This is my broom corn! Which is used for…well…making brooms! I’ve never actually done this before, but I am excited to try this fall.
Unfortunately, the time of year when I lose most of my garden enthusiasm is upon us. It’s just too darn hot. I am so excited for sweater weather. We are still tending to our struggling plants, but it is exhausting.
And this is just a little guy (or gal?) who stopped by me briefly to say hello and have his (her?!) picture taken. So pretty!
That’s all I have the energy for now. Oh, but do be sure to check out the new page I added to the blog, Link Love. It’s chock-full of good stuff!
…that’s what I am. Not an unusual state for me, but I seem to be especially scattered of late. Is it spring fever?
The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here, and buds are blooming. Typically, it would still be fairly cool at this time.
While I enjoy it, I’m hoping this doesn’t mean we’re going to have a hot, hot summer…because we’re giving the garden another shot!
We have already planted onions, radishes, pak choy, turnips, and spinach, and that’s not even the half of it. If the weather cooperates, it should be a bountiful harvest.
I also managed to finish up the Spring 2012 Issue of The Kansas Creative Quarterly last night! I am so excited about this issue…I know, I always say that, but it’s always true. There are some amazing artists in this state, and I am so glad to get to know so many of them. Be sure to check it out when you have the time!
Finally, it’s starting to feel like fall here. It has still been in the upper 70’s, but the nights are getting very cool and the leaves are starting to turn. Last weekend, I went to my favorite fall festival and got to watch the parade before it started raining. (I also got to take some pics of the carnival equipment… because I like that kind of thing.)
I’ve also been trailing off of the knitting a bit, but I am starting to post some knitting patterns to the old Sugar Pickle…which is now officially known as Sugar Pickle Knittery! I plan on adding more patterns, buttons, notions, and other knitting-related things soon.
Since I’ve not been focusing on knitting so much, I’ve been sewing! And this means…there will also be new items in Folk very soon! 😀
FALL IS HERE!!
…not technically, of course, but it feels like fall…and that’s all I care about. It’s so lovely. I’ve been taking pictures. Here are a few that I really like.
Spring Fling pics!! Finally!
The Spring Fling at Food for Thought was last Saturday. It was a great time, if not a little hot! I only got a little sunburnt, though. Here are some works by the other wonderful vendors who were there….

(The sellers whose names are not linked anywhere do not have websites.)
In addition to art and craft, I am also crazy about parades. I enjoy watching them and being in them. It’s really great if I get to be in one AND wear a crazy costume, but sometimes just tagging along for a tractor ride is fun, too…
My hometown’s Fall Festival Parade had become a tradition for my family and friends. Last weekend was the date. I got to wake up at 6:30 on Saturday so I could be in a parade that starts at 10:00 (old men have strict schedules!) On a similar note, I am quite happy that I got to sleep until 10:30 this morning. 🙂 This the first Saturday I’ve had in I don’t know how long where I don’t have to do anything!! Yaaayy!!
