After the whirlwind that was the end of spring, summer, and fall (up until now), I am so excited about the coming months, because I am taking a break! Not that I won’t be doing anything (oh, no!) but I am swearing off of commitments outside of my home, garden, and art. To celebrate, I thought I’d do a giveaway! To enter, you’ll need to “like” my facebook page, Prairiesque, and then comment on and/or like the current profile picture, which you can find linked here. And that’s all you have to do! A winner will be drawn randomly on Saturday, November 15. So here’s to cleaning, reading, working outside, more creating, and, hopefully, better blogging! PS–if you’d like to knit these yourself, you can find the Miss Practicality Wristwarmers pattern here…
I think it’s about time we have another giveaway, don’t you!?
We’re doing it on facebook again, so if you haven’t already “liked” my Prairiesque page, what are you waiting for?!
After you do that, check out this photo, “like” it, and that’s it–you’re entered! The contest will end on Friday, April 4th and a winner will be randomly drawn.
- Woodland Knits by Stephanie Dosen is the number one book on my wish list right now. And she’s having ten days of giveaways over on her blog, tiny owl knits! Go check it out–20 winners will win either a book or a pattern from the book. (Eeee!)
- The other number one book on my wish list–of course you an have two number ones–is Grounded by Heather Ordover. I loooove Heather and her podcast, Craftlit. (Confession time: I’m about 11 months behind on my podcasts…but I’m catching up!)
- The “Name the Mittens” contest is over, and my mittens finally have a name!! The Twining Vines Mitten pattern is now available for sale at my Ravelry shop and my Etsy shop.
- Speaking of the contest…the winner happens to be Audrey Eclectic, an artist whose work I’ve admired for some time now! If you aren’t familiar with her work (or even if you are), pop on over to her Etsy shop and have a look around. She has some pieces that are just perfect for fall…I love this one.
- And of course…the thing that’s going to happen. You know, the thing! It will be happening soon. SO SOON. Like, October. I mean it this time! It’s sooooo close….
The last featured artist in this BIG GIVEAWAY, but certainly not the least amazing, is Madame Scodioli! Again, if you have been following this blog for any amount of time, I probably don’t have to tell you how incredible the Madame’s goods are. But I will anyway.
Intoxicating, decadent, ethereal yet earthy… yep, those describe her soaps, perfumes, and other products pretty well. It is truly hard to choose which is my favorite scent, but I do favor Step Right Up (cedar, saffron, and vetyver) and Widdershins (frankincense and myrrh), and don’t mind a bit of Sentinel or Boheme, either! If you think you’ll have a hard time deciding, try three at a time with one of Madame’s sample sets!
Or, you really cannot go wrong with the rich scent of coffee and chocolate…
And for you diehard fans…(which I happen to be)…this shirt is perfect. I wear mine all the time! And it is sooooo soft.
iamthemandy is number four in this series of featured artists in the BIG GIVEAWAY! If you’ve been following my blog for a long time, you are already familiar with the fabulousness that is iamthemandy. But if you’re not familiar, just know that Mandy is a total baller who crafts funky fresh goods like jewelry, bags and totes, housewares and more, all from reclaimed or recycled materials.
She has also donated two items to this giveaway! The braided scarf at the left is made from upcycled tshirts, and this unique bracelet was created from reclaimed bits of fabric.
For more eco-friendly swag, check out her website at iamthemandy.com. These are a few of my favorite finds from there:
I just adore this rug…
So sassy! Poker chip necklaces.
Artisan number three in this series of amazing item donors is Heather from Faye Farms!
I love Faye Farms so much that I did a little interview with Heather for my other website, The Kansas Creative, this spring. If you’d like a condensed version, though, here it is: Heather is a sweetheart who makes luscious, aromatic soap from all-natural ingredients raised on her farm, and it is fantastic!
The soap one lucky winner will receive in the giveaway was actually inspired by another Kansas treasure, the Bartlett Arboretum, and smells of rich, earthy patchouli. But Heather makes many, many nature-inspired scents!
You can find Faye Farms soap at Whole Foods on East Central in Wichita, KS, Windswept Winery in Udall and Windfield, KS, and a number of other places. You can also say hi to Heather at the Old Town Farmers Market in Wichita! Or, of course…online. 🙂
Isn’t this gorgeous? It smells even better. And its name? Horse Kisses! (It has the smell of fresh cut grass…)
Jennifer creates amazing steampunk and vintage inspired jewelry often using reclaimed vintage pieces including beads, charms, watch parts, and other lovely gems.
Her gorgeous work is available at Bella Luz, The Onion Tree (at Roots and Bloom), The Flying Pig, and many more local boutiques. And of course, you can also find her work online at her etsy shop, pinkelembellishments.etsy.com.
Jennifer has very generously donated not one but TWO amazing items for the giveaway! The blue rhinestone earrings above or the lovely steampunk swallow bookmark to the right could be yours if your name is drawn!
Want to know what you can expect if you shop Pink Elephant Embellishments? Here a some of my favorite sold pieces…
Actually, it’s hard to pick a favorite…they are all amazing. Check out this photo album to see them all for yourself!
As you probably know, THE BIG GIVEAWAY is going on right now. (!!)
Since I spent the entire day with her cruising central Kansas and going to an awesome yarn shop and handmade boutique–more on those later–I thought I would first introduce you to Just Puff! (Plus, she’s my mom, so it only seemed right.) 🙂
JustPuff creates sweet original ceramic pieces for your home, and her contribution to the giveaway is this precious bluebird featured in our first prize lot. Many of her items are one-off pieces. Others, like her owl and cat banks, are slipcast from a mold; however, all the master pieces for any molds she uses are sculpted by her! She also hand paints or glazes each one herself.
Unfortunately, her etsy shop is a little sparse right now, but she hopes to have more items listed sometime soon. In the meantime, please check out her facbeook page–she’d love to have you say hello! These are a few of my favorite pieces in her shop…
You never thought it would happen, did you?! Without further ado, I present THE BIG GIVEAWAY…
Five amazing craftspeople, plus myself, are contributing to this fantastic giveaway. There are three prize lots (as shown below,) and there will be three, count ’em, THREE winners!! The first prize winner gets first pic, of the lots, second prize winner gets to choose between the two remaining, and the third prize winner will receive the last lot left. But honestly, you can’t go wrong with any of these prizes!
This two-week-long contest begins now and will end on Wednesday, June 20th, when the winners will be drawn using a random number generator.

I often marvel at how blessed I am, and one of my wonderful blessings includes knowing and loving so many creative people! My best friend, Mandi, who blogs at sewredplanet.blogspot.com, has just opened up a new shop called Duke & June, and I am completely in love with everything she has there!
Duke & June is a colorful, stylish shop for mommas and their little ones. Currently it’s full of adorable plush toys, patchwork “taggies”, mini bunting and “Momma Go” clutches, which are fantastic for carrying around diapers, wipes, and your other essentials…but you don’t have to be a momma to use them. (In fact, I have my eye on this one.) Mandi also told me about another project she is working on for the shop, and I really wish I could share it, because I am super-excited about it. But that will have to wait!
Oh, and that giveaway I mentioned?
To celebrate its grand opening, Duke & June is giving away a Mini Momma Go Clutch on the Duke & June fan page! Just “like” them and comment on this profile picture, and you will be entered to win! A winner will be drawn March 9th, so head over soon!
